Question
Hello,
I was just wondering if you perhaps know if a towel that is worn requires tzitzit ( the ones little kids wear after swimming) It has a split that is a majority of the actual begged and has four corners.....
I need a source for the answer, please..
Thanks
Answer
See Shulchan Aruch 18:1 quotes the Rosh that in order for Tzizit to be required that which is worn must be considered a garment. Since a towel is meant for drying purposes and not meant to be a garment it is not required to have Tzizt.
This is the opinion of the Gaon Rav Dov Lior in the Hebrew counterpart to this site. (See also שו"ת דבר משולם סי נ"ה)
