The rebbe said we are the last generation of exile and the first generation of redemption. He said this back in 1991. Is a generation 30 years? If so isn’t the year 2022 or 5782 the year we can expect moshiach?

Our sages and the Rambam write that we don't deal with trying to figure out the dates of redemption, but one has to be blind not to notice that we are clearly in the "Days of Mashiach", with or without the words of the rebbe. The Holy Land has been revived, we have a Jewish State, and the exiles are returning from all of the exiles. These are the first signs of redemption as mentioned in the prophets and the Talmud, and one cannot deny they have come true. The continual pace and rate depends on our returning to the Land and to Torah asap!
