Question
My question is whether or not a Ben Noach should marry a non-believer? There are many christians where I live but there are not many women who only worship Hashem. So I wanted to know, please, is marrying a non believer a sinful act? Thank you in advance, and may Hashem bless you even more.
Answer
Shalom, Thank you for your question. Finding a marriage partner is such an important (and often difficult) task. There are many attributes that you will want to look for. Apart from the obvious (and essential) things, like the desire to share a life together, the ability to communicate, a sense of love and respect for each other etc – a joint sense of “where we are going in life”, is important. If your faith is an important part of your life, then you will certainly want to share that with your future wife. I’m not certain that we can say marrying a person who does not believe in Hashem, the Torah, and the Noachide laws, as a “sin”. But, it could be a major stumbling block in building a marriage together. I hope this is of some help – Blessings.
