Question
Hi Rabbi,
If an Eids fathers name has two names and the Eid only writes his fathers first name, is the Ketubah pasul?
For example if the Eids name is Daniel Ben Yaakov Yitzchak Cohen (surname) and the Eid writes Daniel Ben Yaakov Cohen would the Ketubah be Pasul?
Answer
Shalom,
Thank you for your question. While the correct way for signing the ketubah by the witnesses is to write their full name and the name of the father, and then their family name, and then the word “eid” – if the father’s name was not mentioned, and only the witnesses first and name family name were signed, the ketubah would still be kosher. In this case, it is even better, as the first name of the father was used.

Blessings.
