Ask the Rabbi
Question
I mean as a transgender male would I be able to be counted in the minyan as one of the 10.
Answer
ב"ה
Shalom,
A person who was born a female, according to Halacha, cannot be counted among the 10 for a minyan, neither can this person be called to the Torah or put on Tefillin. What determines the gender, according to Halacha, is the way a person was born and as this person's chromosomes continue to attest to.
