Question
Dear Rabbis:
Shana Tova.
Over the past few weeks, we have read this prayer dozens of times.
I have read and reread it both in Hebrew and English and still have trouble understanding it’s multiple different themes.
Please elucidate this prayer for me, so at the next chag it will be more meaningful.
Thank you,
Answer
Shalom,
Thank you for your question. The depth of meaning to be found in our prayers is unending. This prayer, added to the Rosh Chodesh and Festival prayers is especially beautiful and full of meaning. In general, on these special days of holy time, we add this prayer that Hashem will remember us for special blessings. Each of the phrases adds an extra nuance of meaning.
