Question
In the weekly Parasha, we read that Pharoh chased the Jewish people on horses. Didn't we read earlier that the horses and animals were destroyed? Where did the horses which came with Pharoh come from? Just to clarify, were all animals destroyed or not? whose animals were not destroyed then?
Answer
There is a midrash which explains that the God-fearing Egyptians believed there would be more plagues and brought their animals indoors in order to save them. Others explain that after the Egyptian animals died, the Jews, whose animals didn't die, sold them to the Egyptians masters for great profit (some add that the Jews originally bought Egyptian animals for cheap before the plagues).
