One explanation is that Yehuda, in his negative actions, is degrading or parting with those 3 aspects, which he davka should have been protecting: the cirumcision is called "the seal" of the Jewish people, his staff represents the rulers' scepter of the future kings of Judah which will descend from him, and his "ptil"-the term used for tzitzit, that clothing which should have prevented him from promiscuous actions (see Minachot 44).
