Question
1) What did Noah eat in the Ark?
2) Why Noah was not in a hurry to think about kids’ birth?
Answer
ב"ה
Shalom
The Torah does say, that G-d told Noah to bring food to the ark. Bereshit 6:21
"Take with you all the food that will be eaten and store it away, to serve as food for you and for them(=the animals).”
However, the Torah does not give details of what food. . According to the Midrash, at least one of the foods was dried figs. It is interesting that the Midrash goes into more detail what the animals were fed more than what the humans were fed.
Rashi on Bereshit 8:16 says (according to the Jerusalem Talmud) that procreation was forbidden during the time in the ark, since at that time the whole world was facing a calamity and it was inappropriate. (See Midrash Yelamdenu).
