Question
I am still a little confused. tzeis today was 7:53pm. we said krias shema at 7:47pm .when I announced to repeat krias shema the people argued that according to R’moshe & R’ Feuer we don’t have to repeat, that it was late enough. Please clarify how much before Tzeis is late enough not to repeat.

Answer
In Igrot Moshe Even Haezer 4, 84. Reb Moshe Feinstein ZT”L writes that the time of Kriat Shema Shel Arvit in New York is approximately three quarters of an hour after sunset.
Times of Shekiah (Sunset) and Tzeit Hakochavim (Nightfall) vary from place to place. In addition, there are different Halachic opinions of how to define these times. Therefore, in any case of doubt, one should consult his local Rabbi.
