Question
What is the proper brocha to be made on Tabouli salad? This salad is made from cracked wheat grains soaked in water to make them soft and edible!
Answer
Tabouli is made from "bulghur wheat". Bulghur wheat consists of wheat kernels that have been steamed, dried and crushed. Since the wheat kernels are crushed and not whole, the appropriate bracha is "borei minei mezonot" (Shulchan Aruch Orach Chayyim 208,2 and 208,4; Mishna Berura 208,3 and 208,15).
