Comparing Shemot with Megillah

Rabbi Moshe Leib Halberstadt

Adar 17, 5770
Please give sources comparing the Exodus with the syory of Purim: It says in Shemot 14:3: "Nevuchem Hem Ba'aretz" and in Megilah 3:15: "Ve’ha'ir Shushan Navochah". Also, The heart of Pharoah was turned: "V’yehaphech Levav Paro" (Shemot 14:5) and so in the Megillah V’nahaphoch Hu (9:1).
I am not familiar with any sources which compare Exodus to Megilat Esther. Words such as “Nevuchim” are mentioned in other places in Tanach (Bible). Rashi (Shemot 14:3) quotes three additional sources to this word when he comes to explain its meaning. Also the Ibn Ezra quotes additional sources and among them “V’hair Shushan Navochah” (and the city of Shushan was perplexed) from Megilat Esther.
