Question
I saw the answer to a previous question about two family members who wanted to know if it was permitted to copy cd’s they’d pourchased together on their computer and then to mp3 format. The answer given was it’s assumed the seller sold you the rights to do this and it was permitted. My question is in this case if you could contact the seller would you be required to do so??
Answer
If the copyright aggreement for downloads from the site does not specifically prohibit it , I would not feel a need to check further. By the way, I assume we are talking about a web site that has clear right to be selling these downloads and that the artists are receiving any royalties they deserve. If this is not the case then the question is whether one can download at all.
