Slavery in Judaism
Question
Dear Rabbi,
A Christian friend of mine and I were having a debate, whether slavery is allowed in present day Judaism. We all know that some things that were allowed in the Torah were later disallowed (bigamy for example), what is the status of slavery in that sense?
Best regards,
Answer
Slavery is not forbidden, but the world has developed so it not a suitable thing to do.
