Being a Jew
Question
Dear Rabbi Wein,
I’m a talmid of yours from shaarei torah, and i hope everything is well with you. I am going to be speaking this week about "being a jew" and i wanted to know your take on what a good definition of "being a jew" is.
Answer
Aside from the technical issue of Jewish birth from a Jewish mother or Orthodox concersion, being a Jew means living a Torah life, observing mitzvot, being intelligent and rational, doing good deeds and feeling one's self part of Jewish history and destiny. Basically it means living a Jewish lifestyle.
Best wishes and all blessings.
