Question
Rabbi,
Is it correct that a woman cannot sing in front of men?
Did not woman read from the Torah in front of Men and Woman many years ago? And for reason best known to the Rabbis this was stoped.
I am given to understand that by a woman singing where men are present it allures them and is wrong.
I cannot find this writtern in the Torah.
Shalom
Answer
Shalom U'verachah,
It is true that woman cannot sing before men and I do not know of any source that woman sang before men. Indeed, the opposite is true that Miriam sang with the women separately by themselves.
