Question
I heard that turkish coffee is not cooked and therefore cannot be prepared on Shabbat. Could you verify this for me?
Answer
The turkish coffee is roasted beforehand, therefore, the Sefardi Psak is that one can prepare it on Shabbat because they have no Isur of cooking after it has been roasted. The Ashkenazi Psak is to use either a Kli Sheni or Kli Shlishi (depending on ones custom) because they hold that there is a possibilty of cooking after roasting.
