Tribal ancestry
Question
I was born to a Jewish mother and non Jewish father.. I was adopted by Jewish couple at 3 days old. Do I get my tribal ancestry from my birthmother or my adoptive father? Also, how can I find out my birthmother’s family tribe.
Answer
You will follow your mother’s family’s side.
Unless one has a strong family tradition there is no way nowadays to identify the tribes; that will be a task for Mashiach.
