Scooter on Shabbat
Question
Are you allowed to ride a scooter on shabbat?
Answer
If there is no Eruv, riding the scooter outside is carrying and certainly forbidden. If there is an Eruv, or in an enclosed area, riding the scooter is like any other game. Although some poskim forbid bicycles because they may get a flat tire, scooters generally have solid rubber tires.
Nevertheless, it is a good idea to get out of the habit of riding scooters on Shabbat if one is over bar mitzvah, similar to certain other games, so that one can be more involved in the spiritual side of the Shabbat experience.
