Is there a Mitzva of Aliyah leregel today?
If unable on the Chag to fullfill this Mitzvah - up until when can I do it?
Answer
The mitzvah of Aliya Laregel – Reiya, during the three pilgrimage festivals, is simply only in times of Beit-Mikdash (Igrot Moshe YD 3 122).
However, even though not an obligation, there is a great mitzvah still today to make this Aliya Laregel to see Yerushalayim, the western wall and the remnants of the Beit Hamikdash. (Kol Mevaser 2, 10)
