Dried Fruit need Hechsher
Question
Does dried fruit whose sole ingredient reads "granny smith apples" need a heksher?
Answer
It’s good to seek a Hechsher for any processed food as food technology is so advanced today and even whom which look as simple foods contain more than they say (oils?); similarly the process of the drying may be problematic (ovens?)
Therefore even though these foods don’t seem to have any Halachic issues, one should not consume them unless bare a Hechsher or noted by a reliable Kashrut authority as eatable without a need of a Hechsher.
