Terumot Umaasrot on Israeli Exports to US
Question
I’ve been told that foods planned for export from Israel to the U.S. do not have Teruma and Maaser taken from them by the rabbinate authority in Israel? Is this so?
We would need to be told so that we can take the proper steps after our purchase here.
Answer
All Israeli Kashrut certification includes certification that Trumot and Ma'asrot were taken. There are those who feel it is worthwhile to take again in case they were missed on a particular batch of produce, but strictly speaking, this is unnecessary.
