Question
Is it possible to Kosherize our Microwave for Pesach usage and how to do it ?
Answer
According to most authorities, a microwave may be "kashered" by cleaning it well and then putting a cup of water on highest temp for 6-8 minutes. It is suggested to put some bleach or other foul tasting cleaning substance in the water (something that will not damage the coating of mwave). Also, some suggest that the cup should be moved and the process repeated to kasher the spot it stood the first time.
If the microwave has a browning element then there are other considerations and a Rabbi should be consulted about the specific case.
