Question
Can we use face cream and lotions on Shabbat or is it considered anointment. Also does it make a difference if it comes out of a tub or jar as opposed to a being squeezed out of a tub.
Answer
Using creams and ointments is forbidden on Shabbat (derived from the Av of Memareach), in any form, from any container. Powder may be used.
