Fish on Shabbat
Question
Is it Minhag, or where does it come from, to eat fish on Friday night & Shabbat morning?
Answer
According to the Maharshal, the source is from the idea that the Shabbat day's meal should be richer than the night meal ("Gadol Kvod Hayom M'chvod Halayla), hence adding fish to the day meal. Apparently fish was considered a delicacy.
