If Hashem controls everything why do we: work; if in danger carry guns/gas masks; serve in the army; eat-drink-sleep etc.?

Hashem controls everything yet he wants us to eat and drink and wash and work and serve him. We are not robots that are fully controlled – Hashem gave us the free choice to do right form wrong and to reward us for that, if we haven't had free choice – there will be no reason for reward.
