Question
Can one leave Israel to take a vacation?
Answer
Many Poskim agree leaving Israel is forbidden, and I think that if one wants to be Meikel and leave for less than thirty days there is what to rely upon, and it seems Chachamim did not forbid a short trip. To begin with, it's better to find a way to take a vacation in Israel, and of course, each moment one is in Israel he is performing a Mitzvah. Whoever has resolved to leave Israel, should try to learn something from the trip, such as visiting places where Jews used to live, and should try to contribute to Israel in terms of Aliya and public relations.
