Is auctioning off Aliyot on Shabbat Muktzeh as it’s Melachah?
Answer
The Misnah Brura 147 8 comments that it is a custom to auction the Mitzvot on Shabbat and that is the practice in many shules. There is a comment in additions to Maase Rav 34 that the GR"A didn’t approve of that nevertheless the practice in many places is different.
On which day may one start wishing "Shabbat Shalom"?
