Ask the Rabbi
- Halacha
Question
When travelling, if we have no better choice, can we eat in a vegetarian non frum place?
And what should we check in particular, apart from Bishul Akum , oil, vinegar and insects?
Answer
Vegetarian foods are not necessarily Kosher - A vegan restaurant may be more acceptable. Basically there is a problem with attitude to enzymes and such, which may be acceptable to vegetarians, but not according to Kosher laws.
