Ask the Rabbi
- Halacha
- Meat and Milk
- Waiting Between Meals
Question
Please settle this debate I am having with one of my employees at work. He argues that one can wait 4 hrs. 5 hrs. and some 6 hrs.
Correct me if I am wrong but I beileve it is 6 hrs. and 4 hrs. for children.
Answer
Both the Shulchan Aruch and the Rm"a wrote to wait 6 hours after eating meat before eating dairy, and that is the simple custom among jewish communities. However, there are some Kehilot, from Holland for example, that have a clear Minhag of waiting only one hour, and they follow that.
