Rabbi Stewart Weiss

Moshe conducts a census by counting each silver half-shekel donated by men age 20 & over. The women donate the material for a copper laver for the Mishkan. The anointing oil is used for dedicating the Mishkan, its vessels, Aaron & sons. Hashem selects Betzalel and Oholiav as craftsmen for the Mishkan. The Jews are told to keep Shabbat as an eternal sign Hashem made the world.

Moshe receives the Luchot with the Ten Commandments. The mixed multitude that left Egypt with Bnai Yisrael panic when Moshe's descent seems to be delayed, forcing Ahron to make them a golden calf to worship. G-d threatens to destroy everyone & build a new nation from Moshe. Moshe smashes the tablets & destroys the golden calf. The tribe of Levi executes 3,000 men.

Moshe prays for forgiveness for the people using the "13 Attributes of Hashem;" Hashem accepts his prayer. Hashem tells Moshe to hew new tablets.

Idol worship, intermarriage, & the combination of milk & meat are prohibited. Laws of the first-born, firstfruits, Shabbat & Shalosh Regalim are taught.

Moshe descends with the second set of tablets; his face glows due to contact with the Divine & he covers it with a mask.
