American Evangelical Support Of Israel

Question
I am a gentile from Puerto Rico, living in the United States, and wish to know your position on the American Evangelical Church. They seem to support every claim of the Jewish State (including the rebuilding of the temple and resuming sacrifice) and provide funds and political muscle with American politicians for the cause of the Jewish State. Do you think it is right, morally or otherwise, for the Jewish State to accept such help from the Evangelical Church given their belief that Jesus the carpenter from Nazareth is the Jewish Messiah? Is this not an offense to the Almighty? Why do you think, given their position on Jesus as Messiah, that they would support the building of a new Jewish Temple even if it means forcefully removing the pagans currently occupying the Temple Mount?
Answer
I do not see a moral problem in Jews accepting monies from Christian organizations for humanitarian prurposes as long as there are no missionary purposes and conditions attached to the donation. However, there is great debate about the matter within the Jewish community and it is definitely a grey area. There are no plans by Jews to evict the Moslems from the moaques currently on the Temple Mount. Best wishes. Rabbi Berel Wein
